{DIY} Snow Globe

I miss the snow that we used to get at this time of year. I miss it so much that I had to find ways to fake it.
I like to think that this little vignette came right from my old home in Colorado...you know like I some how took a tree with some snow and shrunk it down into miniature form...it made sense to me!

Here's what you'll need:
Ball Jar (size appropriate for your tree)
Fake snowy tree
Styrofoam
Strip of burlap
Felt for bow
Hot Glue gun & glue
Scissors

Break up the foam to make snow in a blender.

Hot glue the tree bottom to the jar lid.
Put snow in jar then put the lid on.

To make the bow cut two strips of fabric from your felt. The large strip is approximately 12" by 1" wide. The small strip is approximately 4" long by 1/2" wide.

Fold longer strip like this.

Pinch the middle and wrap the smaller strip around pinched spot.

Sew or glue the small strip together in the back of the bow.

Cut off excess.

Wrap a strip of burlap around the lid glue or tie in place.
Glue on bow.

That's it!
Happy Holidays!

  1. I've seen lots of versions of these, but the styrofoam in the blender is genius and I love the little bow! Pinning!
